Delhi city is in lockdown as of midnight last night, with restrictions on public gatherings and the movement of vehicles. The news came on the back of a court order from a court in Delhi. The court judge, J S Gill had directed the Delhi Police to shut down all public spaces and that no vehicles would be allowed to enter Delhi. There was no immediate explanation as to why these restrictions were in place, but I imagine it’s due to recent incidents in Delhi.
It’s a little weird seeing Delhi in lockdown, but I guess it gives a better sense of what people are going through because most people have no idea that their city is on lockdown.
Delhi is the most populous city in India, and the capital of India’s most populous state, Uttar Pradesh. It’s not uncommon for a city to be in lockdown for weeks at a time. But this is the first time the city has been put on lockdown for months. It’s also the first time a city has been put on lockdown for decades.

If you’re wondering, the news is that the city police department declared Rambagh Bhavan to be totally safe. They say there were no injuries reported in the incident. So, as a result of the lockdown, most of the city traffic has been shut down.
It’s a good thing that Delhi is so safe right now because the traffic is so slow. After the riots, the city became known for its safety, and as a result the police department decided to put the city on “Super Safe Mode” for the day.

This is because the riots were caused by the city government’s refusal to pay the salaries of its security personnel. Since the riots the police department has taken several measures to reduce the amount of violence, but the city is still plagued by riots.
In an effort to reduce the violence, Delhi’s police department now has a curfew in place that will begin at sunset. This curfew will last for 24 hours, and the police are trying to enforce it by using a combination of force, batons, and pepper spray. It is still difficult to get in touch with the police because they do not allow mobile phones or text messaging in their vehicles.
